Lloyd Talks 'Cupid', plus Collaboration Record With Lil Wayne and Andre 3000 with Vibe.com!!

Don’t let the name fool you: On Lloyd’s upcoming album King Of Hearts, the singer is bringing out the big guns.

The guest list of Young Goldie and Polow Da Don’s masterpiece in the making includes tour-mate Trey Songz (the dirty-talking “Be The One”), R. Kelly & Keri Hilson (the socially-aware, Michael Jackson-esque “World Cry”) and Chris Brown (“Love Me Girl”).

But perhaps the LP’s most buzzed-about collaboration—at least in rap circles—is with Lil Wayne and Andre 3000, on a track called “Miss That Pussy.” The tongue-in-cheek ditty has a retro ‘50s sound and Robert Kelly-like crass, detailing the aftermath of a female’s infidelity—particularly on her lower regions.

“I liked the way it used to be,” a, um, tightlipped Lloyd told VIBE of the track’s anatomical focus. He hadn’t yet heard the cameo verses by Wayne or Andre, who both appeared on the Idlewild soundtrack (“Hollywood Divorce”) and, coincidentally, on different versions of Lloyd’s 2006 hit, “You.”

The crooner was a bit more forthcoming about his newest single, ”Cupid,” though. With it’s static bass and glorious horns, the song conjures memories of first-love hand-holding at the roller skating rink.

“It’s that feeling of first falling for someone, they way it makes you feel and the optimism that love brings,” Lloyd says of the Polow-produced hit. “It just feels like everything can be okay, like love can make everything better and last forever. It’s a very intimate feeling that we hope for.”

Lloyd’s fourth album, King Of Hearts, is set for an April 19 release.  —John Kennedy (Vibe)

  1. Dayum... Miss That P*ssy??? That's a bit uh... well... eh whatever, the album is basically bout lotsa love and lotsa sex, so guess it fits, but seeing that on the back of an album is a bit of a turn off. For me at least. But I do love Cupid!
